I am a HUGE fan of Elon Musk. In my mind, he?s ?da man! My hero in many ways. Why? He?s unstoppable, changing the world for the better, in spite of all of the critics, roadblocks he encounters, established mentality of many ?seasoned? veterans in the industries he disrupts, and countless other barriers in his path. As the inspiration for Tony Stark (aka The Iron Man), Elon Musk continues to disrupt?and beat? the status quo.
When I first started following Tesla, everywhere I turned I heard the critics:
…?At $30/share, TSLA stock is way overvalued…?
…”TSLA is a ponzi scheme, out to rip off the American taxpayers who are financing Tesla Motors”
…”Wait until some Model S cars start getting into accidents. They are unsafe at any speed.”
…”They?ve never made any money and never will…”
And on and on. ?So I decided right then to buy as much TSLA stock as I could afford at the time. I got some shares at around $35. Boy am I glad I did. Unfortunately, I sold it all when it hit $71/share three months later. After licking my wounds for a bit, ?I turned around and bought a few more shares at $97 and kept that. Every time TSLA ticked up, all those critics would come out of the woodworks and argue loudly again “…it?s overpriced” “…it?s going to come crashing down” “…it will never work” “…it?s a bubble about to pop”. Yet they are always wrong. Hell, if I had more money, I?d buy even more TSLA stock. Hovering at $154, it?s still a bargain. Why? Have you SEEN the Model S and their plans for the ModelX???
They said it could never be done: ?a privately held corporation sending a rocket to the International Space Station. Even Neil Armstrong argued in front of Congress of how ?wrong? this was. Musk proved all of them wrong again.? And at a fraction of the cost and timeframe that NASA could pull that off, Musk did it. More than once already.
They all poo-pooed solar panels and the whole solar industry. The Solyndra failure. Clean energy hype. More energy consumed to produce the panels than the output they generate. And on and on. Yet SolarCity (SCTY) stock continues to roar and sign up new customers, to the tune of 1 new one every 5 minutes. Thankfully, I also bet with Musk on this and bought some stock on their IPO day in December 2012.
If You Bet Against Musk, You. Will. Lose. End of Story.
Don?t do it. Don?t bet against Musk. He is a visionary who can do things that very few people on the planet can do. Don?t be short-sighted and think that he can?t do it, that he?s crazy to even try, or that he?s on a mission that will never work. Because if you do, you will be on the wrong side of The Iron Man when he proves you?and everyone else?wrong.
